The Consell de Govern has approved today, at the proposal of the Councillor for European Funds, University and Culture, Miquel Company, to declare a total of 19 investments as strategic projects, so that they can benefit from the urgent and priority processing measures provided for in Law 4/2021, applicable to actions and projects to be financed with European funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
The 19 actions, which represent an estimated investment of 205 million euros, have been included in Annex 2 of the Illes Balears 2030 Investment Strategy drawn up by the Office of Strategic Investments and, as a result, may benefit from the elimination of certain formalities, the shortening of deadlines and the application of the principles of priority, preference and speed during their execution.
The 19 projects include the creation of new infrastructures for citizen services, the modernisation of existing facilities, the implementation of more efficient management systems, professional qualification programmes and also calls for applications for lines of aid aimed at private citizens, local administrations and private companies.
The agreement also provides for the modification of eight projects, which had previously been declared strategic, in order to update information regarding the number of actions involved. 58 projects worth more than ¤1.3 billion are currently financed by Next Generation funds. Their execution is a priority and they are either already underway or will be so imminently. For this reason, they have been declared strategic to be processed as a matter of urgency.
On 4 October, the Consell de Govern approved the Balearic Islands Investment Strategy 2030, drawn up by the Office of Strategic Investments with the unanimous support of the Pact for the Economic and Social Reactivation and Diversification of the Balearic Islands. The document includes nearly a hundred strategic investments worth more than 4,600 million euros, aimed at diversifying and modernising the social and economic model of the autonomous community.
