This week the first dry tests will be carried out on the placement of the pieces made of ecological concrete.
The most important works being carried out in the port of Cala Rajada, consisting of the reinforcement of the present dyke of the port, are progressing according to plan. The aim of this work is to ensure the structural stability of the dyke, as well as to reduce the overtopping of the port by the waves in order to improve its operability. This work began in February and is scheduled to take twelve months to complete.

A dry test is currently being carried out to simulate a natural breakwater slope on the inner esplanade of the port. This test is being carried out with the same equipment that will be used in the definitive placement of the ecological concrete hexapods.
Once these tests have been completed, the protective slope will be definitively laid, which will consist of a layer of concrete blocks known as hexapods, which are made of ecological concrete with the incorporation of a product called ECOncrete, which facilitates the proliferation of marine life. The placement of these concrete blocks has to be carried out in a very precise way so that they are correctly positioned to protect from the waves and reduce the problems of agitation inside the port.
The work to reinforce the breakwater represents an investment of 4.8 million euros in addition to the 0.6 million euros for the stabilisation of the cliff which was done before the summer.
