Artists and groups from the Balearic Islands will form part of this year’s programme thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Regional Ministry and the Fundació Mediterrània, Fire d’Espectacles d’Arrel Tradicional to support, promote and disseminate the intangible cultural heritage of our community. The Conselleria covers both travel expenses and fifty per cent of the cost of the fees of the companies, groups or artists selected to take part.

The first Balearic artists to perform are Martín Melénez and Ermanno Panta, based in Formentera, who will play Los pasos de Beni Xangó on Thursday 6 October at 7 pm. On Friday, October 7 will be the turn of Mar Grimalt who will perform Espurnes i coralls at 16:30 h. Júlia Colom will delight the audience with the song Miramar on Saturday 8th at 19:00 h.

The main objective of these types of collaborations is to facilitate citizens’ access to the assets that make up our cultural heritage and to contribute to disseminating and promoting the different artistic languages of the Balearic Islands outside the territory of the autonomous community.

On Friday 7 October at 1.30 p.m., the Directorate General of Culture will organise a presentation in the professional area, with the aim of publicising the companies from the Balearic Islands that will be performing at the Fira.

The Fira Mediterrània de Manresa is a market of shows that, with the Mediterranean tradition as its axis, moves in two main areas: popular culture (based on elements such as the cross between contemporary creation and traditional roots), citizen participation and the broadening of the social base of culture and world music. The Fira has been held annually since 1998 and has become a framework for exchanges between professionals from the sector who come and buy shows.

In addition, several artists from the Balearic Islands also take part in the 25th Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, along with other musical groups. You can consult the entire programme at the following link: www.firamediterrania.cat/ca/
