At the presentation ceremony, the Consell de Mallorca’s councillor for Transition, Tourism and Sports, Andreu Serra, stressed that “it is necessary to reinforce important values such as tolerance and respect in order to avoid episodes of verbal or physical violence in sporting events, and also to generate a positive and educational context based on sport, not just competition”. For this reason, the EsportNet campaign will work on respect from four different points of view and with different groups: no to violence on the field, with respect to plurality and diversity (of origin, colour, etc.), promotion of gender equality in sport and from the point of view of inclusion.

The island director of Esports, Marga Portells, highlighted the main actions that will be carried out around EsportNet. Som equip!, such as specific races, Suma’t! school workshops, presentations, a cridòmetre for sports facilities, training activities with sports clubs and different specific activities in the federated sphere, such as “specific dissemination campaigns with renowned sportspeople from different modalities, such as those we have seen here today”.

The first major action is a training day that will take place on 18 October at the Trui Teatre in front of 1,300 people. It is a talk and colloquium on Mental strength in life and sport, organised by the Sports Department and the Fundació Miquel Jaume of Palma Futsal, and given by psychologist Patricia Ramírez. José Tirado, manager of Mallorca Palma Futsal, attended the presentation of the EsportNet campaign, in which the club is 100% involved, through different school workshops and also with the management of the day by psychologist Patri Ramírez. Tirado stated that “the Fundació Miquel Jaume aims to transmit values and act as a platform and tools that can serve athletes in their careers but also in life. The new staging of high-level talks is a historical fact of collaboration between sports institutions, and the example is the talk by Patri Psicóloga, a renowned psychologist who has worked with high-performance sportsmen and women”.

The talk will feature some luxury protagonists: the footballer Aritz Aduriz, the Paralympic athlete Álex Sánchez Palomero, the taekwondo and trainer Brigitte Yagüe, the Mallorca Palma Futsal goalkeeper Carlos Barrón, the gymnast Cintia Rodríguez and the canoeist Marcus Cooper. These six renowned sportsmen and women from the Mallorcan elite will take part in the event and will talk about the management of failure and the tools to become stronger in the face of pressure, in the context of their personal stories. The event will be hosted by journalist Maria Mayans.
