The aim of this line of aid, endowed with more than 230,000 euros, is to promote the conservation and dissemination of Mallorcan archaeological heritage.

The Consell de Mallorca, through the island’s Directorate of Heritage, has awarded the subsidy for the recovery of archaeological and palaeontological sites on the island to a total of 21 projects. The financial sum of the multi-annual aid finally amounts to 233,472.99 euros.
The aid is divided into three lines: one for individuals, with a budget of 22,776.46 euros; one for research centres, with a budget of 21,031.83 euros; and a third for local councils, with a budget of 189,664.70 euros.
Twelve town councils, one research centre and two private individuals are the beneficiaries of this line of subsidies, which aims to promote the recovery of historic spaces, while at the same time promoting their knowledge, maintenance, accessibility and conservation.
Among the projects that will receive funding thanks to this call for grants to recover archaeological and palaeontological sites in Mallorca are the conservation and restoration of the Closos de Can Gaia site in Felanitx, the cleaning and adaptation of the Son Corró Sanctuary in Costitx, and the maintenance and adaptation of Ses Païsses in Artà, among others.
Each archaeological restoration project must be carried out by a qualified technical team and requires the prior and mandatory authorisation of the Insular Historical Heritage Commission. Both the restoration of movable property and conservation work must be fully justified and accepted by the Technical Evaluation Commission. Under no circumstances may the archaeological excavation or prospection work necessary to carry out the conservation-restoration project exceed 20% of the budget of the project presented.
The beneficiaries of the aid have until 31 December to be able to carry out the work that has been subsidised. The justification of these tasks can be made until 15 February 2023.
