Dijous Bo 2022 already has an image. Javier Pajares Sánchez, a Madrid-born resident of Marratxí with a degree in Fine Arts, has won the competition organised every year by the Inca Town Hall to choose the promotional image for Mallorca’s big fair. The Mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno, the councillor for Dijous Bo, Antoni Peña, and the councillor for Communication, Miguel Ángel Cortés, together with the winner, presented the poster today.

“After two years in which the Dijous Bo has not been able to be celebrated with complete normality because of the pandemic, today we present this poster with more enthusiasm and excitement than ever. The winning proposal perfectly represents the traditions of the town, with the shoe as the most representative element of our city”, declared Mayor Moreno.

Thus, the promotional poster for Dijous Bo 2022 includes a drawing of a hat, a shoe, an ensaimada and a tomato, drawn in a single line on a geometric typography with the letters of Dijous Bo. In this way, the artist wants to emphasise tradition over modernity.

“For this design I have based myself on the importance of stopping and valuing our traditions, especially in these times when, due to the frenetic pace of everyday life, we do not take the time to get to know the heritage of the area where we live. The elements represented also give clues about the character of this great market and the typical products of the area”, explains the winner of the competition.

Javier Pajares Sánchez is a lover of the island and its traditions, and does not miss the opportunity to choose to put his image on any of the island’s festivals. In fact, this year he has also created the image of La Feria del Barro and the Fiestas de Sant Marçal, as well as that of Dijous Bo.

As for his career, he has worked as a graphic designer both in small studios and in large companies such as Indra and Ávoris Travel. But his creative spirit always drives him to seek new challenges, either by entering design competitions or by making illustrations for “pop culture” themed T-shirts, where under his pseudonym “Jayhai” he has achieved a certain notoriety.
