The project aims to diversify the focus of tourism on Wednesdays and offer guided tours in Catalan, Spanish, English, German and Russian.
Last Monday, Sineu Town Council held a meeting with Mr. Pedro Oliver, president of the Official Association of Tourist Guides of the Balearic Islands (COGTIB), to establish synergies to boost the projection of Sineu as a tourist destination.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Mayor and the Councillor for Tourism, it was agreed to join Sineu in the ‘Tourist for a day’ project, an initiative with a markedly sustainable and local character, whose aim is to highlight inland destinations, give importance to roots and prioritise local consumption.
Sineu’s adhesion to this project aims to diversify the tourist focus, centred on Wednesdays, seeking the promotion of history, culture, gastronomy and local commerce, contemplating the organisation of weekly guided tours, offering information in Catalan, Spanish, English, German and Russian.
These guided tours within the municipality will be promoted by COGTIB and the City Council through various communication and sales channels, in order to capture both local, national and foreign audiences.
Prior to the start of these routes, the local corporation will offer a training programme on local history and culture to up to thirty school guides, so that they can learn more about Sineu. The guided tours are scheduled to begin in September.
The signing of this collaboration agreement will take place imminently.
