“Training programmes aimed at strategic sectors such as carpentry are very beneficial as they provide companies with qualified personnel and at the same time contribute to improving employment in sectors with high demand. By combining training with work, the students can put into practice all the knowledge they have acquired”, says the Councillor for Training and Employment, Maria Francisca Barceló.

Sa Gúbia is a project that combines training, in the certificate of professionalism MAMS0108 Installation of carpentry elements, and paid work, in different companies in the wood and construction sector, through the formalisation of an alternating training work contract. The companies collaborating in this edition are the following: Carpintería Mecánica Campanet, Ebanistería J. Cañellas, Carpintería Payeras, Ebanistería Únicos, Delta Network, Carpintería Comas, Carpintería Gaya, Carpintería Dipep, Christian Mobiliario and Savia Proyectos y Mantenimientos SL.

Thus, within the framework of this project, the student workers have not only received theoretical training but throughout the months that they have worked in the companies they have been enriching and complementing their knowledge, developing their skills and gaining experience in real situations, such as those they will experience from now on once the project is over.

“We are very happy with the good results we get with this type of programme. Many of the students are interested in continuing their training in the carpentry sector; others have already found their first job as a result of this training”, stresses the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno.

The City Council of Inca has developed the Sa Gúbia project within the framework of the SOIB Dual Sectores Estratégicos 2022-2026 programme, promoted by the SOIB and co-financed by the Servicio Público de Empleo Estatal (SEPE).
