Concert of Sant Antoni in 2024

Next Wednesday, January 17th, Menorca’s Day, at 8:00 pm, will take place at the traditional Sant Antoni concert organized by the Consell Insular de Menorca at the Teatro Principal of Maó.

This year the Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSIB) will once again star in a musical evening that is expected to be unforgettable, accompanied by the Menorcan soprano Maria Camps, with a virtuoso voice, and the magnificent tenor Joan Laínez.

The concert will represent some of the most outstanding zarzuelas (La tabernera del puerto, Luisa Fernanda, Doña Francisquita, La dolorosa, Chateau Margaux, La leyenda del beso, among others), under the direction of maestro Pablo Mielgo.

Maria Camps, born in Alaior, develops as a soprano a prolific musical activity especially in the field of classical music, and with incursions into other genres such as musical, jazz-swing, or light music. For his part, Laínez, a native of Llucmajor, has won this year 2023 the first prize in the international competition Grandi Voci in Salzburg. In 2022 he won the public prize at the Jole de Maria International Competition in Tivoli.

The show will be broadcast live on the YouTube channel of the Island Council of Menorca. The OSIB the Foundation and the Teatro Principal de Maó collaborate.

The concert will be free admission, for which there will be a draw among all persons who have registered for the procedure that will be opened to attend the event. Only individuals (not institutions) can register, with one participation per person, who will have the option to choose between two tickets or one. The draw will begin on Friday, January 5, at 00.01 hours, and must be carried out through a procedure in the Citizen Folder of the Consell Insular. The deadline to participate ends on January 10 at 23.59 hours.

The draw will take place at the Consell Insular headquarters in Maó on January 11 at 12 noon. The winners will receive an email from the Department of Culture informing them that they can pick up the tickets at the box office of the Teatro Principal de Maó from Friday, January 12.
