The Government tenders the contract for the development of a public app for the cab service
The Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility of the Government of the Balearic Islands has opened the tender for the contracting of a design, development, implementation and maintenance service for an application (app) for mobile devices to manage cab services in the Balearic Islands, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan financed with European funds.
The purpose of the contract, with a tender budget or estimated value of 528,063.13 € (VAT excluded), is to provide a technological solution to modernize the cab service and transport on demand in the Balearic Islands, in addition to providing automated management of cab services in the community.
The application will allow to request and pay for cab services through the cell phone both in cases of taximeter rate and closed rates for routes at a closed price. It is also expected to have simultaneous translation and the possibility of having the location of the vehicle in real time once the service is hired.
The Minister of Housing, Territory and Mobility, Marta Vidal, stressed that “the development of this application will offer the sector a technological solution that will favor competitiveness and modernize the service”, and added that “one of the firm commitments of this Government is to guarantee citizens an efficient and quality public service. These new features will facilitate communication between the cab driver and the user, as well as helping to improve traffic and the environment, as it will reduce the circulation of cabs in search of customers”.
The application, which is scheduled to start operating in 2025, will adapt to the needs and expectations of customers, increasing the quality of service and contributing to the sustainable development of cab services and the promotion of technological innovation with efficient fleet management and an increase in the profitability of the service.
The tender budget or estimated value of the contract is 528,063.13 € (VAT excluded) and is divided into two phases: a first phase of development of a comprehensive management application for an amount of 316,837.88 € (VAT excluded) and a second phase of maintenance of the work carried out for an amount of 211,225.25 € (VAT excluded). The contract execution period is thirty months from the formalization of the contract (twelve months for the first phase and eighteen months for the second phase).
