The Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) publishes today, February 29, the call of the Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund of the Balearic Islands (FOGAIBA), of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, for aid to support the fishermen’s guilds of the Balearic Islands for the year 2024. It is a call endowed with 435,000 euros, 55,000 euros more than the previous year; this figure represents an increase of almost 15%. The deadline to apply for them begins this Friday and ends on June 14, 2024.

In this sense, the conseller Joan Simonet has assured that “this new funding is given a boost to the structural improvement of the guilds and the services they offer, which are vital for the proper functioning of the sector. This increase in the amount of aid is a further demonstration of our support for this group.
It should be remembered that these aids, to which the fishermen’s guilds of the Balearic Islands are eligible, are intended to compensate the expenses incurred in carrying out the activities of the fishermen’s guilds. The purpose is to promote representation and information activities carried out in 2023 (from January 1 to December 31), such as, fundamentally, the processing of the registration and deregistration of their members, the management of sales, the conservation, custody and transport of fishery products, the training of sailors and the collaboration in the management of marine reserves, among others.

Deadline extension INEA 2024
The BOIB also publishes this Thursday the modification and correction of errors of the Resolution of the President of the Agricultural and Fisheries Guarantee Fund of the Balearic Islands (FOGAIBA), of December 22, 2023, by which grants are called, through the anticipated expenditure procedure, for investments in agricultural holdings corresponding in 2024 (INEA).
This line of aid had two calls foreseen: a first one with a deadline for applications from January 11, 2024, to February 29, 2024; and a second call from October 1, 2024 to November 29, 2024. Each of them is endowed with six million euros. Now, the deadline for applications for the first call has been extended until March 11.
It should be remembered that these calls are part of the new Strategic Plan of the CAP 2023-2027 of Spain (PEPAC) and therefore are affected by new regulations that must be taken into account, as the incentive effect of the aid has disappeared and that there will be greater control in the market prices of the actions requested, among others.
