The need to promote a national seal of approval to improve the tourism offer

The Executive Councillor for Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, defended this Wednesday in Córdoba, within the framework of the 16th SICTED Forum which is taking place these days in the Andalusian city, the need to promote a joint national seal of approval which will allow the tourist offer to be improved and at the same time, can serve as a tool for quality control.
Rodriguez made these statements during his participation in a round table at the forum, in which, under the title “Good practices in terms of sustainability in SICTED”, he insisted on creating a public seal when it comes to managing the regulations in tourist destinations.

“What we are asking for is a model similar to that of the Authorised Control Bodies (OCAs), which are entities with their own legal personality, whose purpose is to verify compliance with the safety conditions of products and industrial facilities through certification activities,” he told the more than 100 attendees at the forum.
The councillor pointed out that in Mallorca 80% of companies have between one and five workers, which is why “obtaining an ISO certification is a very important effort for these companies, hence the importance of being able to implement a public seal that allows the sector to have tools to improve its offer and obtain certification”. “This way you can adapt to the market without changing the law,” he added.
During his speech, Rodríguez concluded by asserting that “if we create a good national seal that incorporates sustainability, compliance with the local product, etc., through certifiers, companies could do it much more economically”.
Ricardo M. Fernández de la Cruz, Head of the Tourism Service of Malaga City Council, and Patricio Sánchez, Director General of Competitiveness and Tourism Quality of the Region of Murcia, took part in the round table together with the councillor.
