Binissalem celebrates the Trade Fair

The Plaça de l’Església (church square) will host the fair, which will feature 35 stalls selling all kinds of local products and articles, including crafts, textiles, food, and costume jewellery, among others.
The Fira will be accompanied by a varied programme of cultural and leisure events such as concerts, shows, games and children’s entertainment, games and games library, exhibitions, and so on.

Among the novelties, a ‘Master class’ within the International Gastronomy Week, with the participation of chef Luca Bini, winner of the MasterChef BBQ Italia competition.

The mayor, Víctor Martí, has invited all binissalemers, binissalemeres and Mallorcans in general to “come and enjoy a weekend full of opportunities and events to do with family or friends”.

Martí stressed the importance of local commerce in a municipality when it comes to being able to buy any item “without having to take a vehicle and travel to another municipality”. “Buying from local shops makes people, makes a social network and creates a circular economy that benefits everyone”.

The councillor for Fairs and Festivals, Joan Andreu Sabater, said that “strolling around the town, visiting places of great cultural and heritage value such as the church or Can Gelabert, as well as visiting the main wineries in the municipality, are complementary activities to the Fair”.

In addition to the gastronomic offerings provided by the town’s restaurants, the main wineries of the municipality will open their doors to welcome visitors who wish to delve into the world of local viticulture.

For Catalina Cortés, councillor for Commerce, this is a “kilometre zero” exhibition, as everything that will be on display and offer to visitors is completely local. “This Fira is a showcase for all that the municipality has to offer in terms of trade, industry and crafts”.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a programme of activities for the whole family; there will be sports activities such as a trial exhibition, and lots of music and dance such as the performance of ‘Primeros pasos’, children’s dance, online dance, musical performance, children’s party with ‘Piratingos’, concert by the Cor de Dones de San Francisco de Inca, performance by Amics del Ball and the closing with the batucada ‘Filoxera del Infierno’ which this year celebrated its 16th anniversary.

On Saturday night a women’s dinner will be held at Can Arabí.
The Fira will be open on Saturday the 16th, from 10 am to 10 pm, and on Sunday the 17th, from 10 am to 3 pm.
