The Consell de Mallorca pays tribute to 20 personalities of the world of performing arts

The Consell de Mallorca is paying tribute to 20 personalities from the world of the performing arts by naming seats in Palma’s Teatre Principal after them. In this way, the island institution is celebrating World Theatre Day with this initiative, which is intended to become an annual tradition.

The people honoured this year are mossen Joan Maria Thomàs, musician and composer; Antoni Lliteres y Carrió, composer; Pere Capellà, author; Joan Mas i Bauzà, author; Alexandre Ballester, author; Llorenç Villalonga, author; Catalina Valls, actress; Rafel Ramis, actor; Cristina Valls, actress; Xesc Forteza, actor, playwright and director; Rafel Nadal, musician and founder of the Corazón del Teatro Principal; Pedro Fuentes, tenor and doorman of the Teatre Principal; Serafín Guiscafré, director of the Teatro Principal 1980-1995; Pere Noguera, director 1995-1999; Pere Lluís Caminals, actor and head of the theatrical area of the Teatro Principal; Mauricio Gallardo, theatre teacher at the Teatro Principal; José Soler, theatre manager at the Teatro Principal; Bernat Damians, machinist at the Teatro Principal; Guillermina Ramios, cantor of the Corazón del Teatro Principal; Isabel Marín, founding cantor of the Corazó del Teatro Principal;

Family and friends are invited to the institutional act that will take place this Wednesday, 27 March, at 5pm. In addition, Luz Barrera will read the International Message, which this year has been written by the Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse, Nobel Prize in Literature 2023.

World Theatre Day was established in 1961 by the International Theatre Institute, a body under the auspices of Unesco. The first international Message, written by Jean Cocteau, was read out in 1962.
