Increases aid for rental housing for young people

“Once the deadline for submitting applications was over, a single provisional list was published with 52 people admitted and 52 excluded. However, it was found that a total of 74 applications met the requirements set out in the call for applications, and that is why we decided that the expenditure had to be increased,” explains Menorca’s councillor for Culture, Education, Youth and Sport, Joan Pons Torres.

These grants are aimed at young people between the ages of 18 and 35, and this year 2024 will increase from 75,000 euros to 104,828.51 euros compared to the previous year, to maintain solid emancipation trajectories for young people, overcome socio-economic difficulties and to ensure future stability.

“From the Consell Insular de Menorca, we are aware of the problems that many young Menorcans experience with housing, so we are increasing this rental aid. We want to tackle one of the island’s main problems”, concludes the councillor.
