The Conseller of Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, José Marcial Rodríguez Díaz, and the Director of Tourism for Demand and Hospitality, Susanna Sciacovelli, were in charge of participating in this meeting of professionals from the tourism sector, experts in sustainability and leaders in the management of projects that ensure an ethical and sustainable future for the tourism industry.

Throughout the day, different experts took part in this professional event in which the island was especially present as one of the official sponsors of the event, together with the Valencian Community.

The experts addressed the main challenges currently facing tourism from different perspectives, offering a future perspective based on respect for the environment and society, to ensure truly sustainable development from all aspects.

Thus, the panels dealt with circular economy, the impact of tourism on biodiversity, accessibility and inclusion, among other current issues in terms of ensuring a sustainable future.

The conference was attended by representatives of a wide and varied profile, including companies and organisations such as Garden Hotels, ABTA, WTTC, The Travel Foundation, Wildlife Heritage Areas, the Project Advisor of Valencia Green Capital, Intrepid, Valladolid City Council, Impulsa Igualdad and Ecollective Carbon, among others.

Mallorca Pledge
The Mallorca delegation took advantage of the event to present the Pledge, Commitment to Responsible Tourism, to a large group of tourism and sustainability opinion leaders. The island director gave a presentation in which, in addition to explaining the general lines of the Pledge, she was able to highlight specific actions that are being carried out and that will be developed specifically in the British market based on marketing strategies, communication and agreements with public and private entities.
The conference allowed not only the explanation of the basic lines of the commitment, but also the possibility of interacting with experts in the field of tourism and sustainability.

Awards Ceremony
After the conferences and round tables, the day was followed by a second networking session during which the Sustainable Media Awards were presented.

Rodríguez took part in the session and was in charge of presenting three of the eight prizes awarded in total.
