The conference began with an institutional welcome from the regional secretary for Innovation and Digital Society, Antoni Carmona, who stressed that, as announced Thursday by President Marga Prohens, the Government is finalising a Special Plan for Artificial Intelligence Management to be presented in the coming weeks, which will have a budget of 840,000 euros from MRR funds “to train and raise awareness of the potential and dangers of Artificial Intelligence”. “This plan, which will be done in collaboration with the UIB, will provide basic knowledge of the use of artificial intelligence, awareness and social reliability actions, communication actions, establish protocols for action, training actions to promote innovation in artificial intelligence and campaigns to develop the innovative fabric that uses AI,” explained Carmona.

The Bit Foundation, in the framework of the Innobal Office of the Directorate General for Research, Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Government of the Balearic Islands, organised this conference to illustrate how local companies can capitalise on the advantages of Artificial Intelligence in their processes, products and services. Through dynamic presentations and inspiring case studies, the 50 attendees received a clear vision of the transformative potential of AI in today’s business environment.

The Regional Secretary’s speech was followed by a series of expert presentations that explored various facets of AI applied to business.

The first presentation was given by Juan Miqueo, a technical engineer in Management Computing, who shared practical experiences on the integration of AI in the company MyBooking. Next, Xiscu García, founder of Mabrian, offered a unique perspective on the use of conventional neural networks for image processing and special data such as the identification and extraction of metadata from photographs of social network profiles in order to estimate socio-demographic data.

The day culminated with an inspiring talk by Andrés Martínez, CEO/CTO of SpeakSpots, an Artificial Intelligence and WhatsApp travel startup, who highlighted the role of AI in tourism travel planning and a more personalised experience for travellers.

Representatives from the participating companies, MyBooking, Mabrian and SpeakSpots, shared their experiences and success strategies in the use of AI, highlighting the diversity of applications of this technology in sectors as diverse as tourism, reservation management and travel planning.
