The MAP Teatre project for the 2023-2024 academic year

MAP Teatre is a project of the Conselleria de Turisme, Cultura i Esports in collaboration with the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats.

More than 900 primary, secondary and baccalaureate students from 20 schools in Mallorca, Eivissa and Menorca have taken part in the MAP Teatre project for the 2023-2024 academic year, which begins its final phase tomorrow with the closing galas. On Friday the 3rd of May two sessions will be held at the Artà Theatre, two more on Wednesday the 8th of May at the Teatro España in Ibiza, and on Wednesday the 5th of June the last two at the Teatro Principal in Inca.

MAP Theatres is an intervention project in educational centres to help students develop dramatic expression as a vehicle for communication and understanding between human beings. This project has been promoted by the Directorate General for Culture and the Directorate General for Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement,

MAP Teatre is an acronym that comes from the acronym of three verbs: Motivate, Act and Project, which are the three parts of the project. Fifteen schools in Mallorca, five in Eivissa and two in Menorca took part in the project.

During the first term, the first block of the project was worked on: Motiva’t, training sessions for the teachers of the registered centres, to learn about tools, resources and techniques to facilitate creative work in the classroom.

During the second term, the students enjoyed the second block: Acciona’t, dramatic expression sessions in the classroom during school hours given by specialists in the performing arts.

With the third term of the school year also comes the third block of the project: Projecta’t, a space where the creations made by the pupils of the different schools will be presented and shared. Three closing ceremonies will be held in different theatres around the Balearic Islands to facilitate this meeting and create a space for communication and projection beyond the classroom.

The Director General of Culture, Ricarda Vicens Schluhe, and the Director General of Early Childhood, Attention to Diversity and Educational Improvement, Neus Riera Estarellas, are expected to attend the MAP closing ceremonies to be held on 3 May at the Arta Theatre.

20 schools and more than 900 primary, secondary and baccalaureate students from the different participating schools in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza have taken part in the project.
