The Sa Nostra Sala cultural space is hosting a new exhibition, ‘Cocina de Fang’ (Fang’s Kitchen), an exhibition made up of ceramic pieces created by the potters Neus Riera and Laura Huguet, who together lead the artistic and pedagogical project of the same name.

This exhibition will remain open until 31 May and will also feature two free workshops on 18 May: the first workshop will be held from 11.00 to 13.30 and the second from 16.00 to 18.30 in the same hall. The workshops are free of charge, with limited places, and to register it is necessary to send an e-mail to saladecultura@conselldeivissa.es.

The artistic and pedagogical project by Neus Riera and Laura Huguet arrives at Sa Nostra Sala

As explained by the councillor of the Department of Culture, Education and Heritage, Sara Ramon, the Consell Insular wishes to contribute to the promotion of clay work, both in its more traditional and artistic aspects, with the aim of “giving visibility to recognised masters and encouraging the work of a new generation of artists”. The councillor also wanted to highlight that “in recent years we have presented exhibitions in this same hall and also in Sant Rafel de sa Creu, a village that became the main reference point on the island thanks to the workshops and the activity of various potters and that today has been catalogued as an Area of Artisan Interest” .

Ramon also congratulated its promoters “for their drive and dedication in carrying out projects that stimulate learning, that invite experimentation with clay and that contribute to training a new generation of ceramists”. This initiative is currently managed by Neus Riera Tur and Laura Huguet Nonó, occupying the old workshop that the art educator and ceramist Anneliese Witt had in Jesús, although with a new approach and a new way of understanding and experimenting with art. They have an open ceramics workshop model and offer classes for children and adults, both beginners and specialists. Both artists have pointed out that “we invite anyone who wants to try the art of ceramics because it has a therapeutic component and we believe that ceramics is here to stay”.
