Culture publishes the line of aid for the external projection of the intangible cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands 2024

The amount of 60,000 euros is a substantial increase over the previous year’s call for applications.

The Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport, through the Directorate General of Culture, has published in the BOIB of Thursday 9 May 2024 a call for grants to support mobility in the external projection of activities and projects that promote the different manifestations of the intangible cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands. The amount of the call is 60,000 euros, which represents a substantial increase over the previous year’s call.

Culture publishes the line of aid for the external projection of the intangible cultural heritage

The grants are intended to support the external mobility of non-profit organisations in the field of intangible cultural heritage that carry out activities, actions and projects; to attend fairs, festivals, popular and traditional markets, professional conferences, presentations, exhibitions, meetings, symposiums, congresses; to participate in training stays or cultural residencies.

Non-profit organisations such as associations, foundations or cooperatives that carry out the subsidised activity may be beneficiaries of the mobility grant, provided that the purpose of the grant is to publicise, encourage, disseminate and promote the intangible cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands or its bearers and their work, outside their island of residence.

The eligibility period runs from 1 November 2023 to 15 October 2024, while the deadline for submitting applications is 24 May and ends on the following dates:

For activities taking place between 1 November 2023 and 15 June 2024, it ends on 31 May 2024 (inclusive).
For activities taking place between 16 June 2024 and 15 October 2024, it ends on 30 September 2024 (inclusive).
The maximum annual amount that can be awarded per application is 6,000 euros and each applicant organisation or group may receive support for 3 activities.

The opening of this line of grants complies with Law 18/2019 on safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands, which was published on 13 April 2019. The aforementioned Law aims to safeguard the intangible cultural heritage of the Balearic Islands, make it known, promote and disseminate it, as well as to carry out any other measure that guarantees its viability.
