Pilar Amate meets with Formatges Grimalt

The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, visited the Formatges Grimalt factory in es Llombards on Wednesday to show his commitment to the quality products made on the island and the added value that livestock producers represent for the development of the local economy.

Llorenç Galmés met with the owners of this emblematic Mallorcan cheese factory to reaffirm ‘the commitment of the island’s institution to the production of quality artisan cheeses, while at the same time highlighting the company’s evolution in cheese production and the modernisation of its production’.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment, Joan Simonet; the Minister of Economic Promotion and Local Development, Pilar Amate; the island director of Economic Promotion and Product of Mallorca, Álvaro Roca; the owner of Formatges Grimalt, María Burguera Grimalt; the president of the company, Antonio Vidal, and the company’s manager, Lucio Rodríguez.

For her part, Councillor Pilar Amate reiterated her support ‘for the primary sector and the island’s cheese industry’, given that, as she said, ‘it is an industrial sector that values local products, which are also setting trends that are increasingly valued by consumers, such as artisan and healthy foods’.

Formatges Grimalt, founded in 1947, produces different varieties of cheese: semi, cured, artisan and fresh, as well as its renowned cottage cheese.
