The Inca City Council today inaugurated the participatory mural created by the Inca Children’s Council as part of the latest edition of the Inca Street Art Festival. The large-format work, created on the steps of Avinguda de Lluc leading up to the Serral de ses Monges Park, represents the four seasons of the year under the slogan “Vive es Serral” (Live the Serral).

“This project not only beautifies a highly visible area of the city, but also demonstrates the positive impact of young people’s participation in large-scale projects in Inca that vindicate their creativity and vision,” explains the councillor for Education, Helena Cayetano.

For his part, the mayor of Inca, stresses that “this mural is a clear example of how art can be a tool for urban and social regeneration, while reflecting the dynamic and renovating spirit of Inca, thanks to the participation of the children of the municipality”.

So, first of all, 5th and 6th grade pupils from all the schools that participate in the Children’s Council took part in the execution of this mural. Afterwards, participation was open to family members and all the children of Inca.

The planning, direction and finishing of this mural was the responsibility of ESPACIO TINTART, an art academy in Inca, directed by Catalina Mayol, a cultural manager and teacher with extensive knowledge and experience in the management of murals. In addition, the Casal de Jóvenes de Inca “Sa Fàbrica” has also participated in the event.

In this way, the Inca Town Hall is renovating and modernising the stairs on Avinguda de Lluc, a highly visible space for all those heading towards Selva, Caimari or Lluc. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that a few years ago a mural was painted in this area, but it was already very deteriorated, so it was decided to make this great artistic intervention here.

The 5th edition of the Inca Street Art festival featured the participation of renowned urban artists such as Suso 33, Sergi Solé, Federica Furbelli, Verni and Carolina Adán. This initiative, which was born with the aim of democratising culture, raising awareness among the population through works that dialogue with the public at street level, making the experience of art accessible to all citizens and visitors, has already become consolidated and has turned Inca into a true open-air museum.
