The facilities covered by the contract include the so-called central pumping and the management and operation of the WWTP.

The Balearic Water and Environmental Quality Agency (ABAQUA) has published the service contract for wastewater treatment, maintenance and operation of the new central pumping station and the new wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Eivissa.

Estimates, as yet unofficial, indicate that the Ministry could have the new pumping and treatment facilities ready to be handed over to the autonomous community before the end of the year. For this reason, ABAQUA has drawn up and put out to tender a temporary and specific contract that will allow it to take over these facilities from the moment they are formally handed over to the CAIB, until they are integrated into the rest of the contracts for its 80 treatment plants, which will be put out to tender shortly. The tender documents have already been drawn up and are being processed for publication.

This treatment plant will subsequently be managed together with the Formentera plant, becoming part of the E2 zone, one of the two zones into which the Ibiza and Formentera plants are divided, according to the name of the new bidding documents.

With this action, ABAQUA anticipates future events in order to avoid possible problems that the transfer between administrations could entail if the continuity of the operation of the facilities is not contracted.

The facilities covered by the contract include the so-called central pumping station, located at the current Ibiza treatment plant, which raises the entire flow to Sa Coma, and the management and operation of the WWTP located at this site. The set of new facilities treats the wastewater from the entire city of Eivissa, the Santa Gertrudis, Jesús and Puig d’en Valls districts of Santa Eulària, as well as the Montecristo, Can Llaudis and Cas Corb districts of Sant Antoni, among others.

The base price of the tendered contract is 581,117.86 euros, with an initial duration of 4 months, which can be extended depending on the additional conditions (actual delivery date and actual start date of the new contracts).

This treatment plant will be the largest and largest ABAQUA manages on the four islands through agreements with the different Balearic town councils.
