The Councillor of Health, Manuela Garcia, has visited the new facilities
The new operational base of the Emergency Medical Care Service (SAMU 061) in Formentera, located on a site next to the Hospital, is now operational. Today the councilwoman of Health, Manuela Garcia, visited the new facilities accompanied by the president of the Consell Insular de Formentera, Llorenç Córdoba; the director general of the Health Service, Javier Ureña; the manager of SAMU 061, Eloy Villalba and the manager of the Health Area of Ibiza and Formentera, Enrique Garcerán.
The base has a surface area of 890 m2 divided into two floors connected internally, a ground floor of 605 m2 where the general services premises, access, reception, rest room and administrative room are located, and a car park for ambulances with capacity for four vehicles. The first floor houses the changing rooms and a thirteen-bedroom area.

The new base of SAMU 061 in Formentera is now operational
The new facility has three on-call resources already in operation:
A basic life support unit (BLSU), with two technicians.
An advanced life support unit (ALSU), with an emergency technician, a nurse and a doctor.
A non-emergency medical transport unit (UTSNU), with an emergency technician.
The architectural project was designed by the team of professionals from the Health Service Architecture Office, made up of Jordi Mestre, Francisco Marí and David Bravo, and involved an investment of 2,771,290.89 €. The project is designed according to passive criteria, which through the volumetry, orientation and treatment of the different façades allows for high energy efficiency (A rating in the energy certificate). The building has been constructed with laminated veneer lumber (CLT), which saves two tonnes of CO₂ per m³ of wood compared to the same volume in concrete. It also has a photovoltaic panel installation that will produce around 40,000 kWh/year and prevent the emission of 115,000 kg of CO₂ per year. The entire electrical installation is highly efficient and has presence sensors to reduce consumption.
The new operational base of SAMU 061 in Formentera is financed with ERDF funds and is part of the Health Service Infrastructure Plan 2024-2027, which foresees an investment of 435 million euros in health infrastructures over the next four years.
