The councillor for Health, Manuela García, today visited the 43rd diabetes education camp organised every summer by the Association of People with Diabetes of the Balearic Islands (ADIBA) to teach young patients how to manage their chronic illness better and become more independent. On this occasion, the camp is being held at the Ca’n Fret estate, located in the municipality of Portocolom.

Although ADIBA traditionally organises two camps of this type, one for children and the other for adolescents, on this occasion the size of the Ca’n Fret estate has allowed the activity to be carried out jointly. Thirty-five boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 17 have signed up for the camp, which began on the 30th of July and will continue until the 4th of August.

During the visit, the counsellor was able to talk to the children to find out first-hand what they are learning and how they are coping with the chronic illness that will accompany them throughout their lives.
