The Consell de Mallorca welcomes the children of the Saharawi people of “Vacances en pau”

The Minister of the Presidency said that “Mallorca is proving to be an exemplary host island” in the face of the difficult situation of the Saharawi people, who have been living in the refugee camps in Tindouf for decades. He stressed that “the goal shared by the institutions and families is that the children only have to worry about being children and feel protected”. For this reason, Antoni Fuster announced that next week the Consell de Mallorca will organise a visit to Palma Aquarium, so that “they can all enjoy different activities during their stay in Mallorca”.

He also praised the work of the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People, which focuses on improving the conditions of people living in the occupied territories of Western Sahara. The insular institution supports the non-profit organisation, through the Fons Mallorquí, and for the first time has allocated 25,000 euros, extraordinarily, in addition to the annual aid of 80,000 euros to which the Consell contributes, together with the town councils, for the Saharawi children’s health project.
