Water reserves in the Balearic Islands fall to 46% during July

The Demand Unit of Formentera enters the alert scenario, while the other nine remain in the scenario of pre-alert

The water reserves of the Balearic Islands had fallen to 46% during July, a decrease of 4 percentage points over the previous month and 9 percentage points below the same period last year when reserves were at 55%. This situation calls for strict monitoring and rigorous management of water resources.

There has been a change of scenery this month. The UD Formentera has entered the alert scenario. At the same time, the other nine UDs (Menorca, Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, es Pla, Palma-Alcúdia, Tramuntana Norte, Tramuntana Sur and Ibiza) remain in the pre-alert scenario.

Water reserves in the Balearic Islands fall to 46% during July

As for the evolution of the index, the Demand Units (DU) have recorded a decrease in their reserves: Artà, Manacor-Felanitx, Migjorn, es Pla, Palma-Alcúdia, Tramuntana Norte, Tramuntana Sur, Menorca and Ibiza. The overall demarcation situation is 0.365, a lower figure than last year (0.546) and two years ago (0.459).

In terms of the percentage of bookings per island, Mallorca has dropped from 50% to 47%, Menorca from 50% to 44% and Ibiza from 35% to 32%. The overall situation in the Balearics is lower than a year ago when bookings were at 55%
