The Ciutat de Palma 2024 awards maintain the same modalities as the previous edition

The rules, which have just been published, establish a total of 12 awards, which will be presented on 20th January, the feast day of Sant Sebastià.

Palma, 1st August 2024. Palma City Council has published the rules of the Ciutat de Palma 2024 awards, which in this new edition maintain the modalities of the previous edition, with a total of 12 awards that, as usual, will be presented on the 20th of January, coinciding with the festival of Sant Sebastià.

The Ciutat de Palma 2024 awards maintain the same modalities as the previous edition

In most cases, the deadline for submitting proposals and works is 13 September.

The modalities that form part of the 2024 call for entries are as follows:

  • Llorenç Villalonga Prize for novels in Catalan, worth 26,000 euros and open to the participation of original, unpublished works of free subject matter that are between 150 and 300 pages in length.
  • Camilo José Cela Prize for novels in Spanish, worth 26,000 euros and subject to the same requirements as the Catalan version.
  • Joan Alcover Prize for poetry in Catalan, worth 12,000 euros, for works of a minimum of 300 verses and a maximum of 800 euros.
  • Rubén Darío Prize for poetry in Spanish, worth 12,000 euros and subject to the same requirements as for poetry in Catalan.
  • Antoni Gelabert Visual Arts Prize, endowed with 12,000 euros. Participants may submit a maximum of three works, from which the jury will select a maximum of 10 finalists. In this case, the deadline for submission is the 7th of October.
  • Ciutat de Palma Comic Prize, worth 10,000 euros, accepts original works in Catalan or Spanish, with a minimum of between 16 and 44 pages (depending on whether the work is in progress or already finished) and with no limit as regards the maximum number of pages.
  • Bonet de Sant Pere Music Prize, worth 6,000 euros, for musical albums with a minimum duration of 30 minutes. Entries can be submitted until 13 October.
  • Margaluz Prize for the Performing Arts, endowed with 6,000 euros, is open to groups or companies from the Balearic Islands that have premiered or performed productions between 1 October 2023 and 12 September 2024.
  • The Maria Forteza Audiovisual Award, has two categories: documentary, with 6,000 euros, and short film, with 4,000 euros. Works produced between 1 October 2023 and 12 September 2024 are eligible.
  • Montserrat Casas Prize for research, worth 6,000 euros and open until 30 September.
  • Miquel dels Sants Oliver Prize for journalism, worth 3,000 euros and aimed at interviews, reports, articles or any other journalistic format, including photojournalism, edited or published in Catalan and which appeared between 1 October 2023 and 12 September 2024. The subject matter must be related to Mallorca and, in particular, to the city of Palma.
  • Caty Juan de Corral Gastronomy Prize worth 3,000 euros. In this category, a commission of experts will be responsible for proposing a maximum of five candidates. The deadline for submitting the documentation in the case of establishments that agree to participate is the 1st of November.

The Guillem Sagrera Prize for architecture should also be added to all these calls for entries.
