Record number of beneficiaries and grant allocation

The main aim of this aid is to encourage modernisation and improve the competitiveness of small retail businesses and certain service companies.

The Department of Enterprise, Employment and Energy, through the Directorate General for Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Trade, has awarded 528 businesses in the Balearic Islands a grant of 3,490,740.98 euros to promote the modernisation of businesses and commercial establishments.

3.5 million euros in aid to promote the modernisation and improvement of the competitiveness of small retail businesses and certain service companies, as well as the continuity of commercial establishments and certain services considered emblematic.

The Government earmarks 3.5 million euros for the modernisation of 528 shops in the Balearic Islands

In the words of José Antonio Caldés, Director General for Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Trade: ‘The commercial sector is fundamental to the economy of the Islands. With this aid we reinforce competitiveness through modernisation, we boost and strengthen the Balearic Islands‘ commercial sector, we promote competitiveness and innovation in the commercial fabric, and we support the companies and self-employed people of our Islands’.

Record figures

Caldés added: ‘This year we have achieved a record figure in terms of budget, which we have increased to 3.5 million euros, as well as in terms of awards. Last year a total of 349 businesses benefited and this year 2024 we have reached 179 more beneficiaries; in other words, we have increased the figure by 51%’. In this call, the beneficiaries have been 528 Balearic businesses with physical establishment in the territory, self-employed or owners of small businesses that make face-to-face sales in the Autonomous Community.

The deadline for the execution and payment of the expenses that are the object of the subsidy application will have to be executed and paid in the period between 16 September 2023 and 15 September 2024. Furthermore, the deadline for justifying the implementation of the subsidised activities and for requesting payment of the grants is 15 September 2024.
