The Regional Ministry of Education and Universities earmarks 1.3 million for university micro-credentialing courses

The Consell de Govern of today, 23rd August, has approved to processing of the expenditure of 1.321.806 euros for an extraordinary transfer in favour of the Universitat de les Illes Balears to finance the project of university micro-credentials that will be developed until June 2026.

The micro-credential courses are aimed at people aged between 25 and 64 who want to improve their professional qualifications in areas arising from the digital and green transition, providing participants with the necessary skills to adapt to the new demands of the labour market and improve their employment opportunities, thus re-qualifying them to contribute to economic and social development. Once the requalification needs of the productive sector of the Balearic Islands have been compiled with the agents involved, the courses will be designed by the UIB, being short, flexible, modular, cumulative and internationally recognised training courses.

The university micro-credentials will be digitally certified to guarantee their security, veracity and international portability. The aim is to provide training to a minimum of 1,586 people.

These university micro-credential courses are part of the Microcreds Plan of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and are funded by the European Union-NextGenerationEU, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan Mechanism.
