The Consell de Mallorca is organising MallorcArt, from 13th to 15th September, in the gardens of the cultural centre: a space free of unfair competition that the island’s artisans were demanding.

The Consell de Mallorca is organising MallorcArt, a craft fair in the gardens of La Misericordia to celebrate the Diada de Mallorca. More than twenty artisans will exhibit and sell their products from 13 to 15 September in the gardens of the cultural centre in a space that they have been demanding for years: an exclusive exhibition for accredited artisans that will be free of unfair competition.

‘It is a firm commitment to the quality of the products that, in addition to being produced by top-level artisans, will have the services of the Consell de Mallorca to verify the authenticity of the artisan products,’ explained the vice-president of the Consell de Mallorca and councillor of Culture and Heritage, Antònia Roca.

Roca explained that there would be artisans from different sectors such as costume jewellery, ceramics, painting, textiles, wood, jewellery, sausages, distillates and much more. In addition, a complementary programme full of activities, such as workshops and concerts, has been organised for the whole family. The fair will be open on Friday, 13 September, from 5 pm to 10 pm; on Saturday, 14 September, from 10 am to 10 pm; and on Sunday, 15 September, from 10 am to 3 pm.

‘The craft fair will combine traditional crafts with highly innovative contemporary creations by great professionals from Mallorca. The exhibition is a solid commitment by the Consell de Mallorca to artisan products that endorses the high level of artisan creation and practice,’ said Roca.

The vice-president and councillor is delighted that ‘visitors to the fair will be able to enjoy the one hundred percent artisan quality of the products on display without unfair competition, while the artisans will be able to give visibility to their product without feeling threatened by intrusion. In this way, we are protecting the island’s artisan tradition’.
