Mallorcan Laura Capó completes her participation in the WorldSkills in Lyon

The councillor for Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, travelled to Lyon to accompany Capó during her last day of tests and the closing gala, which was held this Sunday afternoon. Even though the student did not win a medal in this competition, the councillor stressed that ‘the simple fact that a Balearic student from a socio-health family has reached the world championships is a very important achievement and very difficult to achieve. For me, Laura is the champion’.

The student from IES Mossèn Alcover de Manacor has competed with students from 19 different countries in a total of 16 tests that have been developed in different scenarios of the socio-health family. During all the days of the competition, Laura Capó was accompanied by her tutor, Bàrbara Nicolau; by the coordinator of the Skills of the Social and health care field in the Balearic Islands, Maria Nicolau, and by the coordinator of the Skills of the Conselleria d’Educació i Universitats, Ana Pons. The closing gala was also attended by the head of the Vocational Training Planning and Participation Service, Mar Cañellas.

Some 1,400 competitors from more than 70 countries and regions took part in this year’s WorldSkills, competing in 59 professional families.
