We would like to thank Albert Salas Domínguez, director general of IB3, for receiving us in his office and for his eagerness to keep us informed in such a close and direct way.

From Thursdaydailybulletin.es we have set out to get to know more closely the people behind the most representative institutions of the Balearic Islands.

We would also like to thank the deputy mayor of Lloseta, Javier González, for making this interview possible, through his measure, along with the interest and support of both of them so that the local media can continue to report.

What is your day-to-day life like?
My day to day is intense, I have a daughter who is about a year and a half old. This means that we have to be active from 6 a.m. onwards, as she wakes up at that time.

What is your profession?
I like communication in all its forms. We journalists are more concerned with capturing reality through different news stories. That is why I am proud to have worked as a journalist for many years. I have continued to be a journalist, but now in a broader field that covers different aspects of communication.
I am passionate about social sciences, about communication in all its forms. I am passionate about how to reach people and how IB3 can provide this important public service.

What is it that you can’t live without?
The material thing I can’t live without, for work and for convenience, is the mobile phone and the electronic devices that allow us to have access from home, complementing our work.

The man in the street is very curious about the inner workings of IB3, how would you describe it to us?
My job, from my position as director general of IB3, is to reach all the citizens of the Balearic Islands, who help IB3 to exist and to be a true public service, providing information, training and entertainment. In short, it is a 360-degree work to structure an island, so that everyone can be informed in this globalised world, with the most local information, not only with the most national and international information.
So, the most local information is wonderful and is the basis of everything.

We wouldn’t have information and communication if we didn’t start with this very important part, which is communication with the people closest to us. That is what my work at IB3 is all about, to reach everyone, to make everyone feel part of these islands and for everyone to be informed about what is happening in their town and in their environment. With news that unites and that, in the end, is the beauty of communication. For this reason, the pride of being interested in what is ours and what is close to us is very important and is fighting with large platforms that are more international.

How would you describe the situation of the local media in Mallorca?
As an indispensable service, the seed of everything. Magazines and local media are a reflection of this closer reality. In fact, since the beginning of this stage, IB3 has subscribed to the different magazines and local media of the Balearic Islands.

At IB3, we are aware of the usefulness of local media as a public service. That is why we maintain this contact with the different local media, which are the ones that best know our closest reality.
