The Government extends the call for subsidies for the consolidation and sustainable growth of self-employed workers

The initial allocation of 4 million euros, aimed at granting aid for the consolidation and sustainable growth of self-employment in the Balearic Islands, will be paid through four calls for grants for the years 2024, 2025, 2026 and 2027.

To be beneficiaries of this call for subsidies for the consolidation and sustainable growth of self-employment in the Balearic Islands, you must be registered in the Special Scheme for self-employed workers of the Social Security (RETA) for at least 36 months without interruption.

José Antonio Caldés, Director General for Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Trade, explained: ‘With this modification, we are improving the call for applications and at the same time we are making room for a greater number of self-employed people in the Balearic Islands. Beneficiaries can apply for this aid of a maximum of 3,000 euros on investments in 2023. And those who have been in business for at least 36 months can do so.

He added: ‘We support the self-employed towards the consolidation and sustainable success of their businesses and companies’.

The grant for the consolidation and sustainable growth of the self-employed is structured in four programmes that correspond to the fundamental pillars in achieving the consolidation of a business: innovation and digitalisation; strategic and financial management; sustainability and responsibility; and investments for the improvement of competitiveness.

The aim is to strengthen the business fabric of the Islands by providing financial support to fund strategies for the self-employed to consolidate their business in the current reality. It is estimated that it takes between two and three years for a self-employed business to establish itself in the market. In this sense, this consolidation grant provides essential financial support during this stage and helps to increase the chances of business success in the long term, favouring a more dynamic economy. This grant seeks to boost the innovative, competitive and sustainable capacity of the self-employed to implement strategies and solutions adapted to current challenges.
