The Government of the Balearic Islands provides 2 million euros to the UIB to make student grants effective

The Consell de Govern has today authorised the spending of 2 million euros to make effective the exemptions and subsidies for enrolment at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and its affiliated centres. In the case of the latter, the exemption will cover the part of the tuition corresponding to the UIB.

2 million euros authorised for exemptions and subsidies for enrolment at the UIB

With this aid, the Regional Ministry of Education and Universities seeks, on the one hand, to prevent students from having to abandon their studies for financial reasons and, on the other, to reward student effort and academic excellence.

To make these exemptions and reductions in university tuition fees effective, the Balearic Islands Government is contributing 2 million euros to the UIB as compensation.

The exemptions and bonuses will cover the enrolment fee for official undergraduate and master’s degree courses, for 100% of the price of the first enrolment credit. Students who are Spanish nationals or nationals of a member state of the European Union may apply and must not be beneficiaries of other grants from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport, nor have obtained any other official qualification at a level equal to or higher than the studies for which the exemption is requested. In addition, they must meet certain socio-economic and academic requirements.
