The island’s Director of Tourism Promotion, Begoña Mercadal, led the expedition to Tenerife accompanied by a technician from the Foundation to learn about new developments in the sector at a meeting that also aims to digitalise the sector to improve the management models of destinations and companies to achieve effective sustainability.

Among the objectives of the meeting is the promotion of the exchange of experiences between the actors in the sector, both private and public, to achieve greater efficiency and a wider scope of tourism promotion.

The Foundation met with Turespaña directors from Paris, London, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Milan, Vienna, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and Ireland, among other destinations, to set the action plan for 2025. The idea is to maintain the work done to promote the island outside the seasonal months, to continue to publicise the different attractions of Menorca beyond the sun and beach, and to focus on nature, culture and the declaration of Menorca Talayotic as a World Heritage Site, gastronomy and active tourism, highlighting the fact that the island has been declared a Biosphere Reserve since 1993.

In addition, the meeting featured different round tables, presentations and meetings under the slogan ‘Everything changes again: emerging technologies for a new tourism model’. The president of the Consell Insular, and head of Tourism, Adolfo Vilafranca, took part in one of these events.
