The 39th Temporada de Ópera del Teatre Principal de Palma (39th Opera Season of Palma’s Teatre Principal) kicks off next week with a performance of Turandot. The famous opera by Giacomo Puccini will be performed on the 21st, 23rd, 25th and 27th of October. The three initial performances, explained the Vice President of the Consell de Mallorca and Councillor of Culture and Heritage, have been extended to a fourth due to the great demand for tickets from the audience, which has practically sold out on all the scheduled days.

Puccini’s Turandot opens the 39th Teatre Principal Opera Season
Turandot, in a new production of the Teatre Principal, has stage direction by Alessandra Premoli and musical direction by Giuseppe Finzi, as well as a cast of top-notch soloists headed by British soprano Catherine Foster, world-renowned for, among other roles, having performed Turandot at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Núria Espert’s staging last season. In addition to Foster, this production features Alejandro Roy (Calaf), Marta Bauzà (Liù), Byung Gil Kim (Timur), Tomeu Bibiloni (Ping), Joan Laínez (Pang) and José Manuel Sánchez (Pong), among others, as well as the Orquesta Sinfónica de las Islas Baleares, the Cor del Teatre Principal de Palma conducted by Francesc Bonnín, and the Cor Infantil del Teatre Principal, conducted by Maria Francesc Mir.
