During his visit, the Minister has conveyed the good situation of the Spanish economy. The European Commission has revised upwards, to 3%, its growth forecast for Spain in 2024, which remains one of the main engines of the European Union.

The Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, has met with authorities, investors and companies on a two-day visit to the United Kingdom to strengthen trade and economic relations with one of its main partners.

The Minister met with his British counterparts, the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Jonathan Reynolds, and the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, with whom he shared the good state of bilateral relations and the common vision of a balanced growth model, based on investment, reforms and fiscal responsibility.

Minister Carlos Cuerpo and Chancellor Rache Reeves shared the will to continue deepening relations between the two countries and agreed on the importance of a growth strategy based on investments, reforms and fiscal responsibility, in order to have a balanced growth model. They also identified policies to address common challenges such as productivity and the importance of generating a public housing stock.
The Minister of Economy, Trade and Enterprise also met with investors, analysts and companies, with whom he shared his analysis of the situation of the Spanish economy.
This great dynamism is reflected in the update of the growth forecast by the European Commission, which has raised it by nine tenths of a percentage point to 3% this year, more than three times the average for the Eurozone.
‘Spain will once again be the great European economy that will lead the Union’s growth engine in 2024, but also beyond,’ Cuerpo told reporters during his visit. ‘The Commission also anticipates that this growth will be balanced because it will be compatible with an element of fiscal responsibility.’
He also shared information on the impact of the floods in Valencia and other parts of Spain. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to use all available resources to help the victims and lessen the economic impact of the tragedy.
