FiraB! de Música 2024 reaches a record number of participants

As for the programme, the great majority of the artists were from the Balearic Islands (from all the islands), although there were also some proposals from Spain, specifically from Catalonia, Madrid and the Valencian Community. Internationally, there were artists from Italy, Germany, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Iceland, Sweden, Romania, Austria and Greece.

Fira B!, with its interest in showcasing emerging music from the Balearic Islands, presented the winners of Art Jove Joves Intèrprets (Marc Laliga) and Art Jove de Creació Musical (J Bordoy) and the winner of the Pop Rock prize organised by Palma City Council (Negre).

This year’s programme also included the Enderrock Balearic Music Awards 2024 for the first time, which were held at Palma’s Teatre Principal.

The fair has had 8 exchanges with other fairs and markets, both national and international. On a national level, we have collaborated with the Mercado de Música Viva de Vic, in Catalonia, with Raquel Lúa, and with the TROVAM fair; in the Valencian Community, with Sandra Monfort. Internationally, we have presented artists sent by Napoli Worl from Italy (Suonno d’Ajere), Mastering the Music Business from Romania (K not K), Spike from Bulgaria (Trigaida), Future Echoes from Sweden (Stockholm Noir), InJazz from the Netherlands (Rembrandt Trio) and Jazzfestival Saalfelder (Other:M:Other).

A total of 16 talks, including round tables, workshops and presentations, were held over four days at the Mar y Tierra Theatre. They dealt with current issues in the sector, such as the new musical generations, coprogramming and mental health. Five speed meeting sessions were also held, with the aim of facilitating relations between the artists and the invited professionals.

In addition, we had the collaboration of Spanish and foreign institutions. The Association of Music Producers co-organised the talk on the new musical generations. Plataforma Jazz España, an association that brings together most of the jazz festivals in Spain.
