Health to pay 16 million euros in arrears to Health Service professionals in the December payroll, corresponding to the period from July 2018 to June 2020
The President of the Government of Catalonia, Margalida Prohens, has announced that the Health Service will reactivate the professional career with the payment in the December payroll of the level reached by the 10,309 professionals who are recognised as having this right in the extraordinary process of 2018-2022. Of these, 3,035 professionals have access to the professional career for the first time. The reactivation of the professional career payment will cost 1.7 million euros in December. The expected annual cost is 40.1 million euros.
In addition, the Health Service has announced the payment within the same December payroll of a total of €16 million for arrears to Health Service professionals, for the period July 2018 to June 2020. A total of 5,000 Health Service professionals will benefit from this extraordinary recognition of historical debt.
This is what the councillor of Health, Manuela García, has told the representatives of the Sectorial Table of Health (SATSE, SIMEBAL, CSIF, USAE, UGT and CCOO). The councillor was accompanied by the director general of the Health Service, Javier Ureña; the director general of Budgets, Bartomeu Alcover; the director of Human Resources of the Health Service, Margalida Bujosa; the deputy director of Labour Relations, Verónica Segura, and the deputy director of Personnel Management, Juan José Terrassa.
The Govern de les Illes Balears reactivated its professional career in August, when it opened the call for the extraordinary process of the professional career of the Health Service, which had been frozen since 2018, and which was unanimously approved by the Sectorial Table of Health on 2 July.
The new Professional Career Agreement contemplates two procedures: an extraordinary call for the period 2018-2022 and a simplified call for the years 2023 and 2024.
The global career agreement will involve the payment of a total of 189.9 million euros. Of this, 149.8 million euros correspond to the delays originating in the period 2018-2024, while the remaining 40.1 million euros correspond to the reactivation of the professional career.
Currently, there are 9,648 professionals in the Health Service with recognised professional careers.
