The Ministry of Housing, Territory and Mobility of the Government of the Balearic Islands, through the Directorate General of Housing and Architecture, has published the tender for the contract to implement, develop and monitor the BIM (building information modelling) methodology in the Government of the Balearic Islands and its instrumental public sector.
This is an interdisciplinary collaborative working methodology for the creation and management of the data of a work or construction project throughout its life cycle. The aim of implementing the BIM methodology is to centralise all the information in a three-dimensional (3D) digital information model for the proper maintenance and management of the assets of the Government of the Balearic Islands.

Housing tenders BIM methodology to implement 3D models and improve the management of construction projects
The implementation of the BIM methodology represents the evolution of traditional design systems based on the plan, since it incorporates information that includes the geometry of the building, spatial relationships, geographic information, inventories, quantities and properties of its components, as well as a budget for the entire duration of the project, allowing the management of the works through the virtual model linked to databases.
Its use goes beyond the design phases, reaching the execution of the project and extending throughout the life cycle of the building. This system reduces operating costs, aims to improve the efficiency of public spending in public sector contracts and can serve as a lever to promote the use of digital technologies in the construction sector.
In addition to the possible requirement for the use of BIM in public procurement, it is considered necessary to gradually implement the use of this methodology in the different departments of the regional government and its instrumental sector, both in design processes and in processes related to the maintenance and management of assets.
The contract has a tender price of 350,000 euros (VAT included) and will have a duration of 24 months from its formalisation, with several phases for its execution.
