Tender for the archaeological excavation project of the main talayot of Torre d’en Galmés
The central talayot is in a very poor state of conservation, with structural problems that make it difficult to visit and contribute to its degradation. This intervention seeks to address these pathologies through a comprehensive action that includes:
- The archaeological intervention to deepen the knowledge of the talayot.
- The consolidation of the archaeological elements to guarantee their conservation.
- The adaptation of the talayot to facilitate visits and interpretation.
- The enhancement of the site as part of the cultural heritage of Talayotic Menorca.
Project details and budget
The project has a material execution budget of 283,531.08 €, which amounts to a total amount of 408,256.40 € including VAT, including general costs (13%) and industrial profit (6%). The deadline for submitting bids is 3 February. This intervention will not only consolidate the archaeological heritage but will also reinforce Torre d’en Galmés as a cultural and tourist reference for local and international visitors.
A key site of Talayotic Menorca
Torre d’en Galmés is one of the largest and most important Talayotic settlements in Menorca. Of exceptional historical and cultural value, this site is a unique witness to the island’s prehistoric culture. The excavation and restoration of the central talayot will make a decisive contribution to preserving this heritage and promoting its dissemination among the public.
