Soon, the professionals involved in the liver transplant will report on this milestone in care. In the meantime, Son Espases asks for total respect for the privacy of the patient and his family.

This first liver transplant is a historic milestone for health care in the Balearic Islands and has been made possible thanks to the efforts of the professionals at Son Espases University Hospital, who have always had the support of the Health Service, the Regional Ministry of Health and the Government of the Balearic Islands.

For more than a year, the Hospital and its professionals have invested time and resources to implement the liver transplant programme in the Balearic Islands. Multidisciplinary protocols, specific organisational and clinical committees, specific consultations, a care unit, integrated circuits and services, and a great deal of investment in training have been made.
