The Town Council has spoken with the groups involved and has agreed to hold the Carnival events at the end of May.

After meeting with the different groups, schools and groups that year after year participate in the Carnival festivities in the capital of Raiguer, Inca City Council has decided to postpone Rua 2022. This decision has been taken out of responsibility in line with the current pandemic situation and the high incidence figures.

“Behind the Carnival events, there is a lot of work by many families and groups. It becomes difficult to make all these preparations with the uncertainty of the current health situation. That is why we have met with the groups that collaborate annually with the Rua and we have agreed that the most prudent thing to do was to find another date for the Rua and contribute at this time to contain the spread of the virus, explains the councillor for Participation, Andreu Caballero.

Therefore, during the month of February, the traditional Rueta and Rua will not take place in order to prevent crowds and further spread of the virus.

During the last meeting, organisers and participants agreed that the Rueta would be held on 26 May and the Rua on 28 May. “We know that changing the date of the Carnival causes distortions in the festival and in the planning, but, given the circumstances, we consider it the most prudent,” says Caballero.

“From the beginning, we have made a great effort to help fight the pandemic and our only objective is that all the events we organise can take place with maximum guarantees. We appreciate the understanding and good predisposition of all the groups involved to find a solution to the current situation,” says the mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno.
