The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Pilar Alegría, took part in the presentation of the ‘STEM in female’ initiative developed by IBM and Creática ONG, whose aim is to inspire girls at an early age to approach the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, to prevent them from abandoning their interest in them and to continue training new generations in digital skills.

“Many of the girls who are in primary school today will work in the future in professions that we do not yet know about, many of them linked to artificial intelligence, robotics, data analysis, software development and cybersecurity. And for this they will require high technological qualifications”, said the minister in her speech. “For this reason, the educational reforms that we are tackling in this legislature go in this direction, in preparing children to face a highly technological future”.

Along the same lines, the Ministry headed by Pilar Alegría is leading the ‘STEAM Alliance for female talent. Girls on a scientific footing’, which 123 companies, entities and organisations have already joined, the latest of which is IBM.

The mission shared by all the partners is to promote initiatives that contribute to shaping an education and training system that eliminates gender stereotypes associated with certain vocations and professions, that promotes female empowerment in STEAM disciplines from the early stages of education and contributes to eliminating the gender gap that is consolidated in access to these disciplines.
