The Balearic photographers Toni Amengual, Erola Arcalís, Tomeu Coll and Sílvia Prió, beneficiaries of the 2020 creation grants from the Institute of Balearic Studies, are taking part in the Les Rencontres de la photographie festival in Arlés (France) with the support of the Department of European Funds, University and Culture.

The IEB, through its attendance at the festival, encourages prestigious international professionals to view the portfolios of Balearic photographers to contribute to the production and exhibition of their projects, which form part of the documentary photography category.

The IEB’s collaboration with the event in Arles began years ago in order to disseminate the work of professionals from the Balearic Islands among the 130 experts from all over the world who participate.

The IEB is responsible for paying the festival for the photographers’ registration fees for ten viewing sessions. Travel and flight expenses are paid by the photographers, who are eligible for IEB mobility grants.

The festival hosts more than forty exhibitions in different heritage sites in Arles, an extensive programme of parallel activities and the Arles Book Fair. Les Rencontres de la photographie runs from the beginning of July to the end of September 2022.
