The Balearic Islands lead national and international tourism in Spain and exceed June 2019 visitor figures

The Balearic Islands continue to recover the tourism lost during the pandemic, so that in June 2022 the number of visitors, national and international, with the main destination of the Balearic Islands was more than 2.4 million (2,426,460) with a variation of 157.52% compared to 2021 and with a 1.82 increase compared to the same month of 2019.

The Archipelago not only recovered in June, and for the third consecutive month, the tourism it received before the pandemic, but also increased the figure slightly.

The number of national tourists was 467,815. This is 37% more than in 2019, and foreign tourists amounted to almost 2 million (1,958,645).

The main country of origin of the total number of tourists was Germany with a percentage of 25.52%, followed by the United Kingdom with 21.83% and Spain with 19.28%.

In Mallorca 1,631,068 tourists arrived, in Ibiza-Formentera 533,612 and in Menorca 261,780.

In the cumulative January-June period, 6.4 million tourists (6,428,405) have already arrived in the Balearic Islands, thus recovering 96 percent of the visitors lost due to the pandemic.

In addition, the tourist who arrives now spends more at the destination, which results in greater profitability: Total tourist spending in June is 5% higher than in June 2019.

We have quality, environmentally friendly and more profitable tourism than before the pandemic.

The Islands are the top destination for international tourists in June, accounting for 26.3% of total international tourist arrivals in Spain.

More than one in four foreign tourists choose the Balearic Islands and no other autonomous community shows these figures.
