A total of 8 awards were presented during the second day of the equality plan in the primary sector.
The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food presented the prizes for the 3rd photography competition “From the sea and the land. A recognition of its women”. The competition, organised by the Directorate-General for Food Sovereignty Policies, on the occasion of International Rural Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 15 October, aims to raise the profile of rural women in the Balearic Islands.

The competition established three prizes for each of the four categories: agriculture, livestock, fishing and agri-food industries.
In the Agriculture category, 14 photographs were submitted. The winner was Rossana González Álvarez with her photograph “Tracción animal”; second prize went to Irene Viseras Serrano with her photograph “Cáñamo mallorquín”; and third prize went to “Flores Km0”, by Rossana González Álvarez.
In the Fishing category, only the runner-up prize was awarded. The first and second prizes were not awarded. A total of 7 photographs were submitted. The runner-up prize went to Antonio Riera Escandell for the photograph “Calando”.
The Livestock category, in which 17 photographs were presented, was highly debated due to the good quality and diversity of the photographs received. The first prize went to Miquel Soler Adrover for “Aviram”. The second prize went to Coloma Mascaró Obrador for her photograph “Palla”. Finally, the runner-up prize went to the photograph “Filla, a poc a poc i en bones” by Carme Mascaró Servera.
A runner-up prize was awarded in the Agro-food Industry category. The first and second prizes were not awarded. A total of 5 photographs were submitted. The third prize went to “Produïnt un bon formatge DO” (version 1) by Pere Bosch Pons.
The prize winners are from Mallorca, Eivissa and Menorca. The awards were presented by councillor De la Concha, the director general of Food Sovereignty Policies, Aram Ortega, the deputy director general of Economic Sustainability and Social Affairs of the General Secretariat of Fisheries of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Nieves Salgado, and the director of Equality of the Consell de Mallorca, Rosa Cursach.
The photographs had to reflect the decisive role of women in food development and quality, as well as female empowerment in the agri-food sector. Also, the participation of women in direct sales.
The winners received a basket of local agri-food products and a piece of handicraft.
