The City Council of Inca promotes, for another year, the cycle of guided tours “Discover Inca” to promote the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality. This initiative, which has been held annually since 2016, has the collaboration of the scientific committee of the Jornades d’Estudis Locals, CEP Inca, the Es Convent Foundation and the Palabra association.

“Year after year, this programme has been consolidated and both the conferences and the visits are always a success in terms of participation. Our aim is to show that Inca is a city with a great heritage, with many places worth discovering,” says Alice Weber, the councillor for culture.

Thus, the mechanics of the programme include an introductory lecture on the specific theme in Sa Capella of the Es Convent Foundation, and next Saturday a guided tour. This year, the programme has been extended and some of the outings that had been left pending due to the pandemic have been recovered. In this way, the cycle is adapted to the beginning of the school year and will remain active from October to June.

Thus, the “Discover Inca” cycle kicks off this week with a lecture and guided tour of the Call d’Inca. November’s activities will focus on the New Inca Countryside and December’s on Legends. The first lecture and guided tour of 2023 will be devoted to the museum and parish archives of Santa María la Mayor. Then, in February there will be a tour of the black memory of Inca, and in March on the siurells and the jarreria. The Talayotic site of Son Mas de S’Apotecari will be the focus of the activities in April, and the urban gardens in May. Finally, the programme will come to a close in June with a review of the buildings in the municipal catalogue of artistic interest.
