\ The budget has been increased to 8.2 million euros in order to attend to all applications for aid.

\ In this call for applications, there are 682 more beneficiaries than in the last academic year.

\ A total of 13,693 applications have been submitted, 1,108 more than last year.

\ Today the final lists of grants have been published in the educational centres of the Islands.

The 2022/23 academic year will see 10,874 pupils benefiting from canteen grants. This is 682 more students than last year. Of this total, 4,649 will be pupils from subsidised schools and 6,255 from public schools. The aid reaches public and subsidised centres and 0-3 centres.

Of the total number of grants awarded, 10,848 are for socio-economic reasons and 26 for transport.

By islands, 9,769 grants will go to Mallorca, 580 to Menorca, 471 to Ibiza and 54 to Formentera.

Last year there was a sharp increase in applications, two thousand more than the previous year. This year, the upward trend continues, with 13,693 applications received, 1,108 more than last year. For this reason, despite having endowed the aid budget with the highest amount in the history of the Balearic Islands, eight million euros, an extension has been made to reach 8,261,715 euros, so that all applications eligible for aid are covered.

There are currently 187 public schools in the Balearic Islands with a canteen service, of which 149 are in Mallorca, 23 in Menorca, 14 in Ibiza and 1 in Formentera. In the first quarter of the academic year, 6 new canteens are scheduled to open, 4 in Mallorca and 2 in Formentera.

The dining room subsidies are intended to provide aid to students who, due to their family’s economic situation, unfavourable socio-family circumstances or difficulties in travelling to school, find it more difficult to afford to pay for this service.

This aid is aimed at pupils in public and subsidised schools and first cycle infant education centres who will be users of the canteen service in the 2022-23 academic year.
